Mr. Burkett is a member of the Warren County and New York State Bar Associations. He is also a prior Director of The Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York and serves on the Boards of Directors of Adirondack Samaritan Counseling Center and Greater Adirondack Home Aides. Mr. Burkett’s legal education was at Albany Law School of Union University where he received his J.D. magna cum laude in 1991. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1992, joined the firm in 1993, and has been a principal since 2004. Mr. Burkett was an Appellate Court Attorney, New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department (1991-1993).

Mr. Burkett was born in Massena, New York in 1966. His preparatory education was at the State University of New York at Binghamton where he received his B.A. in 1988.

Mr. Burkett has been practicing law in this community for over 25 years and focuses his practice in the area of Estate Planning and Elder Law including working with clients to develop their estate plans by means of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Living Wills and Health Care Proxies. He is also well versed in the areas of asset preservation planning, including real estate transfers, creation of supplemental needs trusts, Medicaid planning, guardianship proceedings, and all aspects of estate administration from Will probate proceedings in Surrogate’s Court through the accounting of estate assets. Mr. Burkett speaks regularly to area senior groups regarding long-term care, advanced directives, and Medicaid matters.
